'Museum' Stretcher Bars
These are our heaviest duty range of stretcher bars, with a number of profiles for different requirements.
Our most common stretcher bar and one that we recommend is the 'Museum 45', a superior basis for a frame with a depth of 45mm. This helps it to really project a canvas into a room and is most effective for digital canvas prints (or Giclée prints) where a deep profile bar is required.
They are all made from the same grade spruce as the rest of our stretcher bars and therefore retain their perfectly straight edge and tension across the canvas when the canvas is correctly stretched (see essential info for more details).
With a fully rounded top profile and maximum standoff for the canvas, these bars provide maximum support for your artworks.
Cross braces are recommended above certain sizes to maintain the shape of the frame.
Profiles Available
*NEW and EXCLUSIVE* 'Museum 40' - 38 x 37mm medium heavy duty - not available from anywhere else in the UK.
'Museum 45' - 45 x 45mm heavy duty (requires cross braces over 1500mm) - top picture
'Museum 65' - 45 x 65mm heavy duty (requires cross braces over 1500mm) - middle picture
'Museum 95' - 95 x 40mm heavy duty (requires cross braces over 1500mm) - bottom picture
The dimensions above are all quoted with the width first and the depth last.
Pricing
Pricing for these bars is dependent on the lengths and profiles required. We do not calculate individual bar lengths like some suppliers, which can make a whole frame very expensive - we sell by the metre.
To calculate your requirements, simply add the lengths of the frame sides together:
A 100cm x 80cm (40" x 30") frame equals 2 x 100cm + 2 x 80cm = 360cm (3.6 metres).
Pricing for the 'Museum 45' is £6.50 per metre (plus VAT and p&p). Please note that the Museum 45 is only available in bundles of 12s per length. Substantial discounts are available for trade orders over 300 metres.
Please contact us for more information. We look forward to hearing from you.
We offer a full range of stretcher profiles and sizes, from heavy duty 'Museum' bars to light duty 'Standard' bars. Please see the Classic Bars, Museum Bars and Standard Bars pages for more details and pricing.
